A Mindful 2021 - Our Charity projects

With all that has been going on in the world in the past year it is easy to forget that there is always a difference we can make.
For 2021, we have decided to donate a proportion of our profits towards a different Zambian charitable organisation each month. This means, that for every bubble tea you buy, k1.50 will go towards a donation at the end of each month.
For January, our chosen non profit organisation is the Mother of Millions foundation.
The MOM foundation supports children that are born and raised in correctional facilities in Zambia, providing health care, and a safe and secure environment to nurture the children.

The mother of Millions foundation was followed by a donation in February to Lusaka Animal welfare society that contributed to the costs of surgeries required by some dogs at the shelter.
These precious animals do not have a voice for themselves and the shelter is usually constantly overwhelmed by new animals being brought in. They are always appreciative of any help they can get, whether voulenteer work, old blankets and newspapers or even pet food, any little helps alot.

In march we contributed to the Charles Peters fundraising raffle. Charles Peters is a father and husband in urgent need of help with his kidney dialysis treatments aswell as fundraising contributions to have a kidney transplant. April was a super fun one and our donation went to the very creative women and childrens empowerment orphanage; Chikumbuso.
They have brilliant programs going on including making beautiful bags out of plastic waste.

One of our core values at Bubble & Shake is to try and be as sustainable as possible. we are aware of the plastic waste that comes with enjoying a cup of bubble tea and so we are taking a couple of measures to cut back- bonus; you can help us too! - All of our fat bio straws are 100% biodegradable & compostable. - At markets we have 500ml unsealed biodegradable & compostable cups constantly on offer ( we cannot source biodegradable sealing film at the moment that would be compatible with our bio cups to make the full switch) - you could choose the unsealed cup option if you plan on hanging around at the market, rather than a sealed cup (not biodegradable) - You could bring your own reusable cups to markets- we offer a k5 discount! - Once you are done with your bubble tea, they could be recycled into some fun arts and crafts. A place to keep your stationary, seedling starter pots, the list is endless. We also have an active recycling competition going on all the time- check it out here ! We hope to successfully source biodegradable sealing film in the near future so that all of the cups that leave us contribute towards a greener and cleaner Zambia.
